Communicycle is a ministry and bike program that collects used bikes and parts to provide a way for children and adults to earn a bike through volunteering. We seek the glory of God through building kingdom relationships and reconciling our communities, all through the simple act of repairing bicycles. Repairs are performed at no cost and you can learn how to repair your own bike, or earn a bike through volunteering in your community.
Communicycle was formed in the Fall of 2011, when a group of men were building a handicap ramp for a woman in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania; her grandson asked them to fix a bike he and his grandfather had worked on in the past. The bike was fixed and more children began asking for repairs. From there, God has continued to put people in the right places to “connect the dots” and enable the program to grow to what it is today.
Communicycle's mantra is to show both our love for God and our love for our neighbors – you! Anyone can select a bike and volunteer to earn it. If you already have a bike that needs repaired, you can bring it in and we’ll help you fix it. If you are selecting a bike from the shop inventory, we’ll ask that you commit to a certain number of volunteer hours – at your church or another church, at the bike shop and/or in your community. Talk to one of our volunteers for details.
