Communicycle’s mission is sustained by a wide network of churches, organizations, and businesses that support the work in many ways. These partners donate building space, provide ongoing materials and supplies, host convenient bike drop-off locations, contribute financially, fund helmet purchases, and organize bike collection projects—often yielding many ready-to-ride bikes. With new partners continuing to join, this broad base of support remains a vital part of Communicycle’s story, and the invitation is always open for others to get involved and help share the joy of riding a bike.
Over time, Communicycle’s ability to share bikes through partner organizations has grown steadily—from its early days of assembling a few usable bikes in Aliquippa to maintaining a strong inventory after opening the New Brighton shop in 2018. That growth made it possible to support other groups by providing bikes tailored to their specific community needs.
In 2025, this included long-standing partnerships and new connections alike—delivering hundreds of bikes to children through police and school partners in Johnstown, supporting veterans and children through international aid to Ukraine, sustaining camp programs, helping men with transportation at a local shelter, and providing bikes for youth programs, block parties, and schools across the region. This work is strengthened by volunteers who carefully match the right bikes to each organization’s mission, multiplying the impact of every donation.
Volunteer group partnerships have been central to Communicycle from the very beginning, growing from early neighborhood repair days into a strong shop-based community. Longtime partners like Centerpoint Church and BCRC—whose “Communicycle A Team” has served consistently for over five years—have been joined by regular groups such as Gateway Rehab and CARES of Western PA, along with many churches, businesses, and clubs.
Together, these groups provide vital help across all areas of the shop while building relationships and community along the way. Communicycle continues to welcome and invite new groups to join in the work and impact.
