Summer is officially over and it has been busy at Communicycle getting families and neighbors riding!

Our goal at the start of the year was to get more bikes into the hands of riders! Through over 70 bike distributions so far in 2026, Communicycle has refurbished and distributed more than 2,500 bicycles to individuals throughout our community and beyond. This work has been supported by 20 volunteer days at our shop with various community groups, in addition to the dedicated volunteers who faithfully serve throughout the year.

How does it work? Communicycle has donation locations throughout Beaver County where we accept donations of any bike! These are transported from the donation locations to our Workshop in Monaca where they are evaluated, repaired, and safety checked by volunteers who are at the workshop every week. Once the bikes are refurbished they are ready for one of our bike distribution events! Anyone can register for an event on the Communicycle website to come to the event and select one of the bikes we have available.

This work provides so many opportunities for connections in the community, which is what we love about the work of Communicycle!

We love the connections that happen at bike distributions with families and kids who pick up their bikes.

We love the connections that happen with our community partners for our scheduled workshop days.

We love the connections that happen when individuals choose to donate a bike at one of our locations to give it a second chance!

While bicycles are the vehicle we use, relationships remain at the heart of what we do. We are looking forward to continuing with the work that brings the joy of service and riding to our community.
